Diaper rash (or napkin dermatitis) is a problem that affects many if not all infants at some stage during their first 24 months. Even applying preventative measures such as barrier creams and frequent diaper changes; a straightforward napkin dermatitis often becomes colonised with candida- or thrush. Established medical treatments for diaper rash include antifungal agents, mild to moderate topical steroids, or a combination of both. These are relatively expensive, potent drugs and they are not always effective.
