Dry & Cracked Skin
Cracked heels (also known as fissures) are a dry, flaky skin formation on the outer edge of the heel that can form deep, painful cracks. These cracks often bleed, leading to infection from bacteria or fungi.
Cracked heels are caused by seasonal dryness (i.e. winter) or a year round dry climate. Other causes maybe due to being overweight, habitual barefoot walking, wearing of open back sandals or excessive soaking of the feet. Avoid walking barefoot or wearing open back sandals if you have this condition.
A good oil based balm that stays over the affected area will rehydrate the skin, and repair the damaged skin.
